Women – Same or Not

Over the years, we keep getting told to diametrically different truths that cannot both be true. They just cannot be.

First we are told that women are the same as men and should be treated as such. Then we are told that women are different that men. They cannot both be true, and do not tell me that I am lacking context because often they are different people talking about the same issue.

I will give you a case in point. In 2016, we were told by some people that it was about time we had a woman president. From some circles we were told that women were every bit as qualified to be president as a man. From some other circles we were told that a great day would be dawning when a woman became president because they would bring so much more to the party. Here is the rub, quite often the circles collided and you would here both claims from the same damned person. Which is it? Do you even know? Do you even care?

I remember hearing in the 1970’s that when women got into power that there would be no more war because women wouldn’t countenance such actions. Yeh. Tell that to Great Britain in the 1980’s when they went to war with Argentina over the Falkland Islands. I seem to remember that Margaret Thatcher was in charge at the time.

The truth is that women are the same as men. Some are good and some are bad. And the truth is that women are different than men. Physiologically they are different and most people are able to tell the difference. There is evidence that they are psychologically men and women are different as well.

You know, I have no problem with that at all. That should not restrict women from achieving or obtaining any damned job they aspire to and have the ability to obtain, just as it should not restrict any man from achieving or obtaining their goals if they have the ability. Just as long as no one uses their gender as a crutch or and an excuse, I am all for it.

Equality in the work place and equality in life is a great idea that I totally embrace. I just think that everyone should get over the misuse of what they mean by saying things are equal when they are not.
