What matters

had a family member who disagreed with my condemnation of the Sheriff of Humboldt County, California who violated state orders and kept the beaches open during the Shelter in Place order. She quoted statistics of number of outbreaks at the time which proved she had access to a calculator. I replied that everywhere was subject Covid-19 regardless of where they lived and lack of cases proved it was working, not that they were immune. She unfriended me.
Out of curiosity I checked out Humboldt County statistics. As of today, Humboldt County has 233 confirmed cases and 4 deaths. Maybe that is acceptable to the people of Humboldt County but not to me. Especially when it could have probably been mitigated by following safety guidelines.
I was originally bothered by being unfriended but not anymore.

Ironically this person’s sibling unfriended me a little over a year ago when I challenged that person about their satisfaction that the government was denying welfare payments to illegal aliens (BTW: illegal aliens aren’t eligible for welfare generally anyway as they have no Social Security number). I pointed out to this person that this was kind of contrary to their expressed believe on feeding the poor as this person is devoutly religious and supports food drives and missions. Unfriended!

I guess that part of the family doesn’t like disagreement.
