Those Immigrants

You know even if the immigrants coming to this country are problematic, you got to feel for them.

They come from places where they are politically oppressed, up to and including being hunted down and killed. They come from places where they do not even have enough to eat; where they even have to watch their babies die from starvation. They come from places where there are no jobs; and even if there are jobs, they and their children are destined to a lifetime of poverty.

They come with little or no money. They do not know the language. They do not generally have marketable skills. They are often barely literate. They know that many, many Americans are going to hate them and want to drive them back where they came from.

Yet they still come; traveling long distances, often a large part of it on foot. They are besieged by criminals who take advantage of them, steal what little they have, rape the females regardless of age (from grandmothers to toddlers), and sometimes kill them. Yet they come. Because what they come from is so much better than where they are from.

These are robust people. These are resilient people. These can make America great.

How do I know? They proved in spades! I am describing YOUR ancestors, not today’s immigrants. Whether they came from Russia, the Baltics, the Pale, Eastern Europe, Italy, France, England, Ireland, you name it they came from all over the world in the 1800’s and early 1900’s. And they made America the greatest, most powerful nation on earth. And they are YOUR ANCESTORS!

What makes you so damned arrogant as to think your ancestors were any different than these people? I don’t think so!
