I wonder when the true Conservatives are going to break away from the Tea Party/Trump lying hate-mongers that have made the Republican Party a laughingstock to everyone but them and have marginalized their honest realistic conservative message.
Do not get me wrong. I am not a Conservative, never will be. However, I believe that Conservatives have a righteous voice in the political dialogue of the nation, if for no other reason as to temper the message and actions of the Liberals.
Anyone who is paying attention can see that the ultra-Right has taken over the Republican Party and does not accept or tolerate moderate thinking. They are becoming more and more radical as time goes by, bringing back racism, misogynism, xenophobia, and other nasty actions back into the mainstream of their political policy, stated or implied.
This means that the reasonable, sane Conservatives have no place within the Republican Party for their voice to be heard despite, in my opinion, the fact that they make up the majority of the Party’s membership. Therefore, this contingent of the Party, because the radicals have control of the leadership, have no choice but to break away and form a new political party. I hope it happens sooner rather than later and I hope it is not a default decision after years and years of having to put up with the Trump Insurrectionists.
As a snide aside: I have NO suggestion for the new party name except maybe The Conservative Party, but as a slap to the asshole ruining the Republican Party might I suggest their mascot be a Rhino?
