The Candidate

I cannot be the only one who recognizes the warning signs.  They are there for all to see.  The Democratic Party is doing everything it can to re-elect Donald Trump, or at least it looks like it so far.  Once again, we see a weak, obnoxious president and we think it is our golden chance to replace him with our ideal candidate.  Like that has worked so well in the past – NOT!

At present, there are 21 (yes 21!) announced candidates for the Democratic nominations.  I know, most of them are not viable.  I also know that you cannot keep people’s ego in check to stop them from announcing their candidacy. Who knows, someone can come out of nowhere and become viable in a hurry – it has happened.

But really?  Let’s get serious people.  The goal, the number one goal, supposedly the only goal, is to get rid of that POS in the White House.  Not to get YOUR candidate elected.  You may have to settle.  Grow up!

Forget about convincing me that we should be ready for a woman president – we should be and about damned time – we were ready in 2016!  Forget about convincing me that we should be able to elect a gay president.  Forget about convincing me that we should be able to elect another Black president, or the first Hispanic, or Asian president.  I get it.  I am all for it.  It IS about time.  In fact, I want the best-damned PERSON for president.  I am so far past the need for a “first” to the need for the “best” that I do not give a damn whether they are Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, Gay, Transgender, Male, Female, or Other.  I just do not care. In an ideal world, neither should you.  But, I am not going to convince you of that so I am not wasting my time today.

However, I am a pragmatist as you should be.  There are three reasons for people to vote for Little Boots in the next election:

  1. They vote Republican no matter who is running, whether it be Hitler or Trump or an actual member of the human race.  No one on the Democratic Party is going to satisfy them, so why bother.
  2. Those that support and share Trump’s nasty, rotten policies and ideas even if they will not publically admit it.  Theoretically, the Democratic Party could nominate a POS that may kowtow to their ideals but then I would not vote for that craphead.
  3. Those that find the Democratic candidate unpalatable.  We have a chance in this area and this area alone.

Let us face it.  I know we are playing into the hands of the WASP agenda by what I am suggesting but we cannot take any chances.  I am not suggesting for a moment nominating a POS ourselves.  Instead, I am suggesting that we pragmatically choose a candidate that may be a compromise from our ideal in order to get that candidate elected President.  There are plenty of candidates out there so one of them should meet the criteria.  I know I am being mercenary and arbitrary but here is my requirements to get every vote I can away from Little Boots (I already figure that we can get all of the Democratic votes, unless we have a rebellion in the ranks):

  • White
  • Male
  • Protestant of some flavor – but not “too” religious
  • Married
  • Children
  • Young, or at least young-looking
  • Photogenic
  • Glib
  • Middle-of-the-road leaning just a little to the left – cannot be perceived as too liberal
  • From the south or mid-west – cannot be considered a Liberal Easterner or Westerner (Californian)
  • Some Federal government experience but not too much – not an insider
  • Oh, and no retreads – cannot be perceived as a do-over

If all of the categories can be checked off, he has a hell of a chance.  The less items checked off, the less chance we have.

I may be mercenary, sarcastic, disparaging, and disingenuous to some people.  When all of the chips are down however, I want to win.  Not at all costs but a little on the edges and a little on the extremes.  I am willing to sacrifice a little temporarily to get rid of Trump.  Who knows?  This may end up being the best choice anyway.  This is not an election to make history as much as it is an election to insure we have a country to make history in down the line.

Now the question is; are your ideals worth four more years of Trump?  Is your ideal candidate worth going to the wall for and losing? I for one do not think so.  Ideals only go so far.  Especially with Trump as the penalty for making a mistake.

Make you case in the comments for a candidate that does not fit the criteria I have set forth but you think is still viable.  Remember, tell me and everyone else why he or she can get all of the votes away from Trump and be elected.  I want to hear from you!

Otherwise, I have to assume that you care less about the country than you do about your ideals.  And, you have the gall to diss Trump!
