One of the constant refrains from the Gun Nut world is that if you register your guns the “damn government will come and take my guns”.

Think about it. How in the living hell is that going to happen.
First of all there are so many guns in America, I think you just might hear a rumor that the government is confiscating guns by the time they got to you. Maybe not. If you are in you doomsday shelter (hole in the ground), you might miss the message but probably not.
Secondly, who are they going to get to get your guns, huh? The military, the police, the liberal commie bastards? No one would be involved in the wholesale confiscation of guns. If you are going to have your guns confiscated, you got to have a confiscator.
Lastly, and this is the important one (in fact a real important issue), no one with a half a brain wants your damned guns. They do not care about your guns. That is unless you are a crazy person. Then they want your guns, damned straight. I want them to get your guns as well. And if you do not want them to take the guns away from a crazy person, I probably do not want you to have guns either – your judgment is impaired.
So unless, you are crazy, no one wants your guns. If you are still worried, maybe you should be.
