Sexual Misconduct

Just saw another public figures, Math Lauer, fired because of accusations of sexual assaults/misconduct.  I think everyone is suprised as to how widespread this is becoming.  I am glad that we are finally at a place where women can speak out and be taken seriously.

Some thoughts though:

  • It pisses me off that some of those accused, and who have admitted to the accusations, were some of the most vocal accusers of others who had been “caught” in the past, especially when it was politically motivated.  It makes me sick.
  • I wonder how long it will be before someone will be ruined because of false accusations because of this current climate of automatic guilt.
  • What is going to happen when someone accuses a woman?  By either another woman or a man.  We know it happens but are we ready to deal with this as well?
  • And what will be the outcome?  Will the accused survive?  Will the accuser be treated as a one-off or will it be an excuse to disbelieve all accusers as it once was?  I wonder.

So while I am glad things have changed for the better, I have to wait to see how it shakes out.
