Rainbow Flag

This is one of those times when I am going to say “No Offense” and truly mean, with all of my heart, NO OFFENSE and no one is going to believe me.  But as they say in the Russian Army Toughski Shitski.

I really do not like that the Rainbow Flag has been co opted by the gay movement.  It has diminished the whole idea of what the rainbow can and should represent in my book.

When I was younger there was a movie Billy Jack.  Let’s face it – crappy acting, clitchy story-line, bogus all the way.  The only saving graces were the improve stuff by Howard Hessman and crew plus the message.  For those who have not seen it is was peace and love with lots and lots of violence – go figure.  But one of the things that resonated with me was a song, I think it was called “A Rainbow of Children”.

This was also about the time that Ray Steven’s “Everything Was Beautiful” came out and it started out something like “Jesus loves the children. Jesus loves the children of the world.  Be they black, yellow, white they are equal in his sight.  Jesus loves the children of the world…”  Years later, Prince came out with a song/album called “Rainbow Children”.

See where I am going with this.  In case you are wondering, I am not even wanting to focus on children.  I think that the rainbow had an opportunity to be a symbol of tolerance and unity for race, creed, color, sexuality, or any thing that made one different.

Bot it got co-opted by the gay movement.  I know that this will not change.  I am just saying it is a pity that we lost a golden opportunity.  That’s all.
