Predictable

A couple of days ago, I said to myself:

“Self, I bet that the Liberal Democrats and the Liberal Unaffiliated will cry foul because there is a chance that the $15/hour minimum wage will not pass in the $1.9 Trillion relief package”.

This despite the fact that the following is likely to be part of it:

  • $1,400 stimulus checks for eligible individuals
  • $400 weekly unemployment benefit through Sept
  • $3,000 per child tax credit
  • $70B to increase vaccine & testing capabilities
  • $30B for rental assistance; eviction moratorium & forbearance through Sept
  • $440B for small businesses & communities

But of course, if they do not get everything, it must be an absolute failure – right? And, we cannot allow the Republicans to have a hollow victory – right?

Then following that, I said to myself:

“Self, I bet the Liberal Democrats and the Liberal Unaffiliated will cry that the President is usurping their Constitutionally-given powers because of an airstrike on a terrorist outfit that attacked American facilities.”

This despite the fact that these types of actions have occurred before without such claims – and – there is proof that President Biden notified key Congressional leaders – just not the ones who complained as they are not leaders – go figure.

Oh, and I could have included the fact that certain people on Facebook wasted no time in championing the statements and causes of the above people, especially St. Bernard. I could have said that to myself as well, but that was a given.

The only problem with me patting myself on the back for my political acumen is that these politicians and their followers are so damned predictable as to warrant it being almost a joke; with the problem that the politicians actually have a semblance of power. I cannot congratulate myself on predicting the predictable.
