I haven’t been posting for a while as I have been watching the mess that has occurred as a result of the senseless killing of George Floyd recently. Now I know that he was detained for some cause. I do not care what it was. He did not deserve the death penalty for it. And those damned police officers need to be held accountable for it.
Beyond that, what has incensed me the most has been the actions of the so-called President of the United States. He has seemed to purposely exacerbate the problem on a daily basis. Only days after the incident, he was calling for putting active duty troops on the ground. Why? Because of some looting. Not a lot, not universally, but some. He tried to be a “tough” president by chastising governors and pretending to have authority that he did not have (again) so he could have a photo op, even though most saw through it. I bet Fox Noise thought he was a tough guy.
This caused me to post the following on Facebook
When Jackass-in-Chief touted the “Make America Great Again” I did not know that it meant bringing back the actions and inactions that caused the racial tension and race riots of the 1960’s.I spent my whole life living with the shame of those times: when inaction to their plight seemed to be the norm. The only saving grace I could hang onto was that, while we were a long long way from solving these issues, we were making progress. Even if too slow, we were going forward. Then this asshole comes into office an gives voice to the scum and bottom-feeders that we all knew existed but had crawled under their rocks for the most part. Sadly, not satisfied with that, he encourages then and actually tries, both subtly and directly, espouses their stupid, racist agenda.Make America Great Again. What a fucking joke. This asshole and his asshole minions are wanting a WASP America and an America where they (anyone else) do not matter and can just go away or be swatted down.And the worse part of that this POS still has any support at all.
Since then
Riots are a thing of the past almost universally, replaced by protests almost everywhere. Trump still does not get it. He ordered a peaceful protest in front of the White House to be pushed back with tear gas so that he could cross the mall for a photo op in front of a church (I think this is a close to a church as he has been since he has been elected). He lies, postures, and brags all the while making the protests even worse. The only ones who seem to be listening to him are his core followers.
And all of the time, the country is falling around him and he is clueless while focusing on opening the country when a pandemic is still running rampant and all indicators say we should not do so.
How many years, how many generations, if ever, will it take to overcome this administration?
