On Morality

Dear Trump Supporter;

I know you do not like my choice of politicians.  That is fine with me.  However, when you say things about them, the following things have occurred:

1.    On a rare occasion, they have proven to be true and I have to choose to continue to support them.  Generally speaking, I do not support them anymore.  On the rare occasion when I still choose to support the person, I am willing to address and respond to those issues head-on.

2.    Those issues are investigated, often to extents that are beyond the pale of belief.  Sometimes for years and years on end.  After the investigations, often costing hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars the person is found to be blameless or within the law.  Sadly, the claim is all you bring up, not the exoneration.  Even more sadly, these “investigations” have a tendency to be done during election cycles to benefit your candidates.

3.    Some of these issues turn out to complete falsehoods.  They are so damned false that everyone involved in the claims knows for a fact that they are untrue.  It does not keep people in your world from going so far as to fabricate “facts” and “documentation” to support these lies.  Even when these lies are exposed, the lesser members of your ilk still believe them – more is the pity.

Now we get to the current situation, with Little Boots.  Here is what you are doing.

1.    You deny that he has said and done things, even when there is video documentation that he has done it.  You deny his tweets even though the world has seen them.

2.    You call him a moral man, even though you see by his actions that he has been an immoral man all of his life.  He has cheated on all three of his wives and there is documentation on two of them – called divorce papers.

3.    His actions have hurt us domestically and internationally in all types of businesses.  Just look at the businesses going oversees because of tariffs and look at the cost of items that have increased with tariffs.

4.    He is supported by every racist, xenophobic organization in America.  In short, every wingnut has him on speed-dial.

5.    He does things for hateful, spiteful things.  All the while, supported by so-called Christians.  Go figure.

I am not saying that this is all one-sided.  That conservatives ignore the bad and liberals are always on the side of good.  I can only speak for myself.  I can honestly say that I have never, never compromised my morality to support a politician.  Can you say the same?  If so, I suspect that either you public morality and your private morality is different – or – you are refusing to pay attention.
