Funny thing about stereotypes: they often represent the truth, even when they are not necessarily politically correct.
Case in point?
When I was a kid, in ancient times (over 50 years ago) the stereotype was that any female (a.k.a. ”girl”) who enjoyed and participated in sports heavily was a lesbian.
One the one hand, I know that is absolutely not true. You cannot paint everyone with the same brush and be right.
Now that I have said that, have you looked at the number of American female professional basketball, soccer (football), and hockey players who are publicly willing to identify as lesbian? Despite possibly affecting endorsements, the percentages are high. For instance, in WNBA it is 28%, with an estimated 60+% with claims of internal discrimination against heterosexual females.
Stereotype? Hmmmm!
