Netflix Documentary on Bobby

Watched the Netflix documentary series “RFK for President” in its entirety, all 4 hours.  While it is definitely a pro-Bobby documentary is does not necessarily whitewash some of the less savory aspects of his earlier public days in politics.  All and all a good documentary, especially the first 3 parts.

But it got me to thinking – a lot.  I was told by more than one person during last year’s Presidential Election Cycle that Bernie Sanders was this generation’s Bobby.  Sorry, not even close.  No disrespect to Bernie, but he is not even in the same conversation in any way, shape, or form.

Bernie Sanders is a politician and a pundit at the same time.  He has a career as an outsider.  He only joined a political party when it was convenient for him.  And I have yet to hear of a single issue he has championed that is truly groundbreaking or controversial.  Bobby was calling for political reform, with specifics, to fight poverty, housing, civil rights, and to extricate us from a war.  Bernie champions a $15/hour minimum wage: laudable but really not in the same boathouse.

I apologize that our generation and the generations that followed did not give you a real leader like Bobby to follow; but then again we only had one ourselves.
