I figuried it out on my own

I recent had a non-run in with a new neighbor.  The gist of it is self-explanatory in the letter below.  I had planned on posting this on the mail kiosk.  I didn’t for reasons I will explain after the letter.

To my new neighbors;

I am retired and I am 67 years old.  Despite my outward demeanor and my looks, I am willing to learn and understand the needs and attitudes of others.  I am usually able to discern another person’s needs, even if I do not agree with them.  However, I am having an issue that I would hope that the appropriate neighbor would help me with.

One of you found it necessary to report me to the City of Gresham for parking my Motorhome in front of my home recently. Why you felt it necessary to call the city and not merely knock on my door is disconcerting but maybe understandable in the non-confrontational non-social world we live in today.

If you had knocked on my door, I would have explained to you that we were just waiting for our concrete pad alongside our home to cure enough to support the Motorhome to be parked on.  I hope that that would have satisfied you.  Because you did not let us know who you were we felt we needed to act immediately by getting it moved next day.  The problem was that, even with a professional driver that we hired, the wind caused a little bit of confrontation that we hope will not cost more than a $1000 dollars to fix.  We would not have moved it then, but then we did not know who talk to as you were anonymous.

I am still wondering why you called the city.  What was your reasoning?

·         It was not blocking your view of anything but our house.

·         It was not blocking the street any more than any other vehicle, as we were right on the curb.  Measure the width from the curb to the side of your cars/trucks.  You will find that we were not any wider.

·         We were not taking anyone else’s parking.  We were parking in front of our own home.

·         It is not an ugly Motorhome.  Everyone who sees it complements the look.

In short, I cannot understand why the person reported me.  It befuddles me.  When I found it was a problem, I corrected it, even though it cost me. 

Now can you help me understand why?

I really would like to understand because right now it makes no sense at all.

Now I really did not think it would do any damned good to post this but I was s till planning on posting it, if for no other reason than to get a reaction from the fool that did this.

However, on a totally unrelated issue, I was watching a “Murphy Brown” show and saw where, as part of the storyline, a couple were turned into Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE) because someone reported their taco truck being parked into their neighborhood.  After some thought about it, I understood my issue.  My motorhome was something different so it attracted attention.  My neighbor was not looking for a reason to report me, they were looking for an excuse.  Admittedly, it is pretty pitiful.  But if that is that what it takes to give their life meaning, I guess I did some good.
