I could have been on TV

I guess I blew it, but I do not think so.

I had a person from a local TV station knock on my door a little while ago. He informed me that they had had a report of a cougar sighting in our neighborhood, in fact just around the corner.

This was news to me as I knew nothing about it. After a few pleasantries about this issue, he asked me if I would like to be interviewed regarding the sighting.

I politely rejected his offer. I told him that one of my pet peeves was what has become ubiquitous in the news world of interviewing people who had no knowledge of an event commenting of the event for a news standup. (That and a live feed in the middle of the nowhere to introduce a tape).

I know they have to fill the time, but what could I have contributed. “Gee, I did not know there was a cougar here! That is interesting. That is scary. I hope it doesn’t eat any pets!” You get the drift.

But —

I could have been on TV.
