How Trump Won

The crazy unlikely election of Donald Trump

On the surface, it would be absolutely impossible to predict the election of Donald Trump. No one in their right mind would ever expect or be convinced that Donald Trump would be a viable candidate for the Presidency of the United States. He has no credentials, experience, or for that matter any ability to be president of the United States or to lead a brass band let alone anybody else.

How he was nominated in the first place

The fact that he was nominated for the Republican candidacy was primarily based upon what I would call the Schwarzenegger affect. This can be most easily defined as what happened in the recall election of Gray Davis and the subsequent election of Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor of California. There were so many candidates running for office up to and including strippers and other ne’er-do-wells that Arnold Schwarzenegger became governor by default simply because he had the most notable name. Both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Donald Trump, neither one had a modicum of ability to perform the tasks given them. I am not going to discuss the ability and actions of Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor of California. I am only pointing out that both he and Donald Trump got their positions solely by public recognition of their names.

In the case of Donald Trump, he entered a Republican primary period where there were, I believe, seventeen candidates.  This included such people as the brother of a relatively disgraced former president, a former head of a major corporation was fired for her incompetency, and a person who was born and raised in Canada until he was 12 years old and did not renounce his Canadian citizenship until the year before. Ironically, given the foreign-born challenges had bandied about against Obama, Ted Cruz, the Canadian born ultra-conservative tea party candidate, was his biggest challenger.

In short, Trump’s major name recognition and a whole hell of a lot of money was able to overcome his lack of ability in winning the primary for the Republican Party. The fact that the Republican Party itself sat on its ass and did not seem to actually oppose Trump in his March to the nomination speaks volumes to the disorganization within the party. With the growth of the Tea Party Movement the Republican Party didn’t seem to know exactly what the hell they were.

Now, let us examine some if not all of the entities and issues that seem responsible for his unlikely election as president of the United States. May God have mercy upon us all.

The Republican Party

With the exception of Ted Cruz, who could be construed as a sore loser, and Mitt Romney the Republican Party was silent regarding the absolute travesty that the election of Trump would be. And even then they did not advocate crossing product lines to ensure that they asshole did not get elected. Instead they stated that they would cast their vote for a third-party candidate. This has the effect of denying Trump a vote but also denying a vote against him thus is a half vote for him.

Conservative political pundits, self-identified as Republicans, advocated pretty much the same scenario. While they could not see themselves voting for Trump, they could not see themselves voting for Clinton either.

During the election cycle, Republicans running for Congress and Senate nationwide generally distanced themselves from Trump because they did not want to go down with his ship. The exception being in ultraconservative areas of the country.

It was as if the Republican Party assumed that Trump was not going to win and did not want to rock the boat. They wanted to maintain the façade of a unified party even though the majority of them were completely aware of just how bad he was.

Sadly, it was a miscue on their part in the asshole won. They did not foresee that not only was he a travesty for the country but for their party as well because now they own him. He will go down as a Republican. If it sets a Republican Party back for generations is their own damned fault.

But should they have done? Stood up for the country for one thing. He did not represent the country, he did not represent the Republican Party, he did not represent anything they stood for. Nevertheless, they let the damn thing play out anyway. For this, they bear the risk partial responsibility for his election.

Democrats/Liberals

I admit I fall into this category. I am people like me, when we first saw Trump enter the primaries and heard his rhetoric we realized what was going on. I know that I personally went after him full speed ahead. As a student of history, it did not take long for me to see that his rhetoric was taken from the pages of such luminaries as Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler, to history’s most noted fascists. Almost immediately, I started referring to him as a Nazi.

I want you to know that I stand by that statement. If anything, I underestimated his personality and willingness to do harm.

The problem is that I was a known liberal. I, and people like me, were the ones making these claims. This strong rhetoric turned off people who had yet to make up their mind (they consider themselves open-minded) and entrenched people who in truth surreptitiously agreed with many or all of Trump’s ideals.

We therefore enabled people who are like-minded to Trump while possibly turning people off to the whole election process. Whether they ever participated in the general election is not known. If they did not it may have made a difference.

The Russians

I do not know exactly what they were involved in. I am not really sure anybody does, in the general public anyway.

What seems to be clear at this point in time is that the Russians were involved in some way or another and aiding Trump’s campaign. One of the most recent revelations points to the Russians leaking false information regarding Hillary Clinton’s email server issues.

There seems to be other issues involved. As I said before I am not sure what they are. I do know however that their involvement in an American election is troubling at the very least in this criminal at the very worst.

That some of this was known during the election process without action being taken by any government entity is an absolute travesty (see next section).

James Comey/et.al.

Let me make this perfectly clear. I cannot necessarily blame James Comey for everything, specifically. I use him as the figurehead to represent the FBI in all of its various representations. Apparently, there are factions within the FBI who were anti-Clinton and made it very well known. Given the actions of the FBI during the election process makes it hard for one not to believe that those personal beliefs did not play into those actions. Can I prove it? Hell no! That’s why no one’s in jail. Do I suspected? Hell yes!

The timing of the investigations into the emails is extremely suspect, especially given the recent revelations regarding the Russians. The announcement of opening an additional investigation 10 days prior to the election into emails, only to dismiss them a week later, had a profound effect on the election. Prior to this piece of garbage Hillary Clinton was leading in all pools.

Comey’s excuses just do not cut it. His violated every practice and procedure that has been standard with the FBI since the beginning of time (except when J Edgar Hoover wanted to make political hay). With vote by mail and heavy absentee balloting these announcements, times as they were, were votes for Trump.

Bernie Sanders

Bernie, Bernie, Bernie! At some point, I am going to put out a blog detailing my opinion on his viability during the election. I will probably piss off the Bernie Believers who think he had a real chance. However, if you look at the numbers it just is not there. But that is an issue for another day.

What I am referring to today is Bernie’s halfhearted, half-assed concession after he was mathematically eliminated from any possibility of any the nomination. Instead of conceding, as most people would and have done in the past, he kept his campaign open so as to take his “cause” to the convention. Instead of actively campaigning for Hillary Clinton in key states going into the convention, coming out of the convention, and showing the united front you displayed a halfhearted show support for your parties candidate.

I am not begrudging his right to do this but it became obvious that it had nothing to do with his cause and had everything to do with his future. As a brand new member of the Democratic Party, by staying in the “race” until the very end he was able to stay a larger claim into the Democratic caucus of the United States Senate going forward. Instead of an Independent caucusing with Democrats, he was now a senior Democratic Senator. And because of his “showing” during the primaries, he was able to garner some plum appointments.

The only problem I have with this is that it kept feeding the Bernie Believers, who mistakenly believed he still had a chance, and the Bernie Backers, who had more time to inadvertently support Donald Trump because they didn’t realize what they were doing.

Therefore, Bernie, your personal agenda inadvertently help Donald Trump become President. I know you did not mean it but that’s what happened. Thanks a lot, dude.

Bernie Backers

Now let us be very careful here. I am not referring to Bernie Believers here. Bernie Believers are decent people who support Bernie Sanders and the ideas and ideals that Bernie Sanders support. In many ways, although not a true Bernie Believer, I am an associate Bernie Believer. I like most, if not all, Bernie Sanders ideas and ideals. What kept me from being a Bernie Believer was twofold. One, was that I did not think that he was electable in the general election – an opinion I still hold. Two, was that I never got a clear picture of a complete plan for running the government – in short, a lot of rhetoric without a lot of reality. Thus, even though I like Bernie’s ideas, I could not jump on his bandwagon. But that is not the issue here.

What I am referring to are the Bernie Backers. These are the damned fools that think they can serve their candidate and their agenda by lying. The post lies in support of Bernie Sanders. A post lies against Hillary Clinton. The sole purpose of these lies is to make Bernie Sanders look good and Hillary Clinton the bad. They are supported by absolutely no truth. They exaggerate any slight against their candidate and any advantage for the opposition.

Quite frankly, they are what’s on the bottom of your shoe when you walk through a sewer. The fact that Bernie Sanders never did anything about those pieces of crap speaks volumes about his candidates unfortunately.

All that can be forgiven if this only occurred during the primary process. What the real problem was these idiots continued on their merry way during the general election. They were so enamored of what they were doing they were still sabotaging Hillary Clinton, “advocating voting for a third party because they were ”disenfranchised”. This had the effect of giving a half a vote for Trump. They can both ship themselves by thinking they were voting for no one but in reality they were voting one half for Trump and one half for Clinton.

If we were to believe these clowns, Trump represented everything they were against. Yet these fools joined ranks that help elect him. Thanks!

Hillary Clinton

One cannot forget the Hillary Clinton bear some of the burden of losing this election. It was hers for the taking. She had four years to prepare. She was the most qualified. She had the chops.

Admittedly, she did not always have the greatest personality when it came to winning elections. However, she had handlers who helped her overcome this most the time.

If anything, her inability to get a handle on the controversies regarding the email scandal, her inability to bring Bernie into the fold more quickly, and her inability to address all these rumors and innuendos that were flying around hurt her.

Should she lost? Not for these issues. As we can see above many of the problems that led to that piece of ship becoming President were out of her hands. However I think that some of this may be attributable to the fact that she thought she was far enough ahead that she was safe. There was no need on her part, in her mind, to get down and dirty and everything was on autopilot. More’s the pity.

Conclusion

It just goes to prove that even the least qualified can win this error in the race. Especially if you get help from self-serving entities who forget what the overall goal is.

This is proof positive that anyone, I repeat anyone, can be President in the United States.

  • The very root of your writing whilst appearing agreeable initially, did not really sit well with me personally after some time. Someplace throughout the sentences you were able to make me a believer unfortunately just for a short while. I still have a problem with your jumps in assumptions and you might do well to help fill in those gaps. In the event that you can accomplish that, I could surely be impressed.

  • This is the perfect website for anyone who would like to understand this topic.
You understand a whole lot its almost hard to argue with you (not that I personally would want
to…HaHa). You definitely put a fresh spin on a topic which has been written about for
a long time. Great stuff, just wonderful! adreamoftrains content hosting
