Hilary Swank.  I saw that she was recently remarried.

That got me to thinking.  She won the Academy Award – twice.  Once for “Boy’s Don’t Cry” and once for “Million Dollar Baby”.

In my opinion she deserved both of her awards.  Quite handily in both cases, I might add.

I do have an issue with the perception many may have with this.  In that time frame, one would easily believe that she was perhaps the best actress, or at least one of the pre-eminent actresses, of her times.  That is not the case.  She was and is a very good actress but certainly not outstanding to the point that her appearance in a movie sells tickets on its own.  Her performances were outstanding and deserving of the awards but that is all.

In fact, if I may be critical, that seems to be the case lately in the leading and supporting acting roles, male and female, over the last couple of decades.  Maybe that is as it should be.  The award is to the performance in the role and not to the best actors and actresses.
