You have heard that refrain “Hate the Sin – Love the Sinner”. Of all of the Bull Shit expressions I have ever heard this has to be in the Top 5 1. After some thought, there cannot be anything so inane and stupid as that statement.
I know, I know people of good intent have been saying and believing that for years and years. There are some of those people who believe that they can do it. More’s the pity.
Look at it from the “sinner’s” point of view. Some jackass says that they love you but hate everything about you. Yeh, right! That works, now doesn’t it.
The most common use of this asinine statement is when people are referring to homosexuality. Why? Because these people still consider it a sin that people choose to be. Not a matter of birth. Once again, another example of major determinations based upon lack of knowledge and a whole lot of prejudgment.
So when you hear “hate the sin, love the sinner” think of it more properly as a personal proclamation by the speaker as:
“hate the bigotry, love the bigot”!
