For Sale on eBay

I really do not ship on eBay that often. Oh, I occasionally look for some item that is most often sold via an eBay Store which is handy. I also look into eBay for refurbished items, some used items, and out-of-production items. On a rare occasion, I look for a collectible item. Oh, and I will look for a bargain now and again.

In short, I use eBay as any casual user would.

But as I do not go on eBay very often I have only been peripherally aware of a major situation that has seemed to almost taken over eBay.

I have always been aware of people who have purchased items and reselling them on eBay. However, if you had asked me I would have said that they would buy items in bulk, at discount, from closeouts, or all of the above. This was so these marketers could sell these at or below retail and make a profit.

But no, no, no. That is not necessarily the case. The people seem to be buying items at full retail. The reason I think this is because they are offering these items with prices above retail. Oh, I know all about bid prices and suggested prices but I am talking about items offered at fixed prices.

I guess it is good if you can do it. But I wonder about 1) the intelligence of the buyers, 2) the integrity of the seller, and 3) the sustainability of such a model.

Well to each their own. In any case I know I will double-check every price on eBay before I buy. I always have but I now have greater incentive.
