Dumb-Ass Majors

I wonder if I am alone or if I am just a cranky curmudgeon? (Probably guilty)

I get upset when I see so many people pissing away their opportunities for a higher education for what can only be described as frivolous majors.

Admittedly, part of this is based upon the inaccessibility of a higher education for so many people a half century ago when I was trying for it.

But the reality is also in play here as well.

As an employer, how do you quantify the value of the education of an individual who’s major was something along the level of 1960’s television and who’s thesis was on the affects of “The Munsters” on 20th Century America.

Me? I would hire the enthusiastic High School Graduate with a decent head on Her/his shoulders and hope that the college graduate was not too much of a burden on said parents and that Mickey D was hiring.

(Oh, and the worse part? They are bitching and moaning about the burden student loans are affecting their lives, wanting taxpayer relief. Go figure).
