Confederate Flag

You know, I used to defend the Confederate Battle Flag and, by association, the Confederacy.  That is because, to the vast majority of those involved, they thought of loyalty to their individual states before any loyalty to a central government.  Thus when their state went with the Confederacy, so did they and the flag represented something honorable to them.

To me it was not about slavery or racism, but honor in a cause that I did not agree with.  But I had to face reality some time ago.  Regardless of how they felt, regardless of how I felt, the Confederate Flag has become the symbol of slavery, racism, and hate.  Regardless of the past it is now a symbol of the worst we represent as humans.  It is the American version of the Swastika, with all of the negative baggage included.

If you have any doubts about it just look at the damned fools who fly the flag.  Hell, most aren’t even aware that it wasn’t the official Confederate Flag in the first place.

  • I saw a truck going down the road today that had this flag flying from the back. The driver was sighing a can of beer and flipping people off. Welcome to Arizona, where there are no background checKS at gun shows and you cad buy an AK-47 for 8 grand, no questions asked. How did I ever end up here?
