Celiac

You know it seems like everyone has Celiac Disease lately.  If not full-blown Celiac, then “Gluten Intolerance”.  Personally, I like the Gluten Intolerance because then you do not have to test positive for Celiac but can be anti-gluten without any of those nasty, nasty proofs.

Now here are the facts.  A few years ago, Celiac was such an unknown disease that a person I knew suffered from it for a long time undiagnosed because multiple doctors did not know to even suggest or test for it.

Sometime in the last few years, gluten intolerance has become the “disease” of choice.  One of the good things about the disease is that the symptoms are so non-specific that if you are feeling unwell; Celiac.  If you are too full; Celiac.  Got gas; Celiac.  Get the picture.

The sad part is that there are some people who really have a problem and like so many other issues, the hypochondriacs are jumping on the bandwagon so that most people just raise an eyebrow and scoff at their declaration.  A pity.
