After posting Worthless I started thinking about whether or not I could even hold my own again. Ego says I could but I am almost 10 years past it.
Here is what I THINK. I learned 19 programming languages during my career and about 14 were completely self-taught. I usually became productive with a new language in 4 weeks and proficient in 6-8 weeks. I had a reputation of being the fastest, most efficient, most effective programmer anyone had ever seen. I have the testimonials to prove it.
Yep, it has been a while. Yep, I may not have the chops I had . But, like many many years ago when my eyesight was diminishing the eye doctor said that it was still better than 20/20.
So, I may be following myself in thinking I still have the chops. I don’t need the job, so I don’t have to prove it. Funny thing is; don’t bet against me. My ego wins today.
