Admissions Scandal

We have seen all of the bruhaha about the Admissions Scandal. Everything from cheating on SAT’s to using pictures of a young girl on a rowing machine to garner a position on the crew team.

It was, pure and simple, about rich and influential people trying to get their precious little kiddies into prestigious colleges and universities that they had no business being in. Why? Because they were either not smart enough to get in on their brains or they had not done the work necessary to get selected.

So instead, Mommy and Daddy tried to rig the system by getting someone else to take the required tests or by getting them on a sports team, where the academic requirements are not necessarily as rigorous as for the student body in general. And they got caught.

Woe betide the good old days when rich and influential people could get their unqualified kiddies into good schools the old fashioned way. Mommy and Daddy could just buy their way in directly; open and aboveboard. It was a time honored solution.

Just ask George W. Bush. Yale sure as heck beat University of Houston. Now their is not anything wrong with the University of Houston but Yale looks better on the old resume, even if Daddy had to pull a few strings; if you get my drift. And so as you think I am being too one-sided; I imagine the Ted Kennedy got into Harvard on his merit as well; right?

MERIT: AIN’T IT A BITCH?
